jtallen83
Had Thanksgiving dinner with an Ethiopian gal, her mother brought her here to avoid abuse from the Muslim community there, she is Christian. Now an American citizen and very proud of it she is amazed at how oblivious most Americans are to the state of world affairs, wonders why we don't stop things while we still can.......I couldn't really answer that questions except to say I agreed with her, if we don't kill them they will kill us............ planeflyer21
I'm surprised to see this in the Chicago Tribune:http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/ct-armed-civilians-patrolling-border-islamic-state-20151126-story.htmlAs has been stated here over the past years, it will be happening here. Not if but when. Those of you who haven't seen our borders just can't comprehend how open the landscape is. The thing is, someone is attempting to do something about the southern border.Who's watching the northern border?

This is a person who launched military strikes in country against his own people to influence elections, and then assasinates a prominent human rights lawyer yesterday who was critical of him. Time to expel Turkey from NATO. And your right, Obama is in over his head. Not enough spine to bring Turkey to heel. Syrian Kurds are now looking to Russia, considers Putin a more reliable ally then Obama and the US.

Sisco
US has demanded Turkey to secure its 60 mile border with Syria. Will see if it happens ! Just not betting on this happening. The border is much longer than that, but the Syrian Kurds have taken control of the rest of it. The 60 mile stretch is the area that is left that also happens to have a large population of Syrian Turkmen on the Syrian side, who Turkey is supplying with weapons against Assad. The Kurds want that stretch, the Turks want it, and Assad and Russia want it. It is gonna get lively. Meanwhile, ISIL (The Daesh) sits back and waits to pick up the pieces. Would not be surprised to see some pitched air battles in that area in the near future if diplomacy fails. Just hope that the U.S. F-15"s at Incirlik don't get pulled in if the Russian SU-26's start kicking the Turkish air force butt. We would be backing a loose cannon in Erdogan and Turkey. Sisco
Actually there is another stretch of border east of Aleppo and West of Kobani that is still in ISIL hands. That is where they get all their supplies and volunteers through Turkey from. That is the one needs to be closed to make an impact on ISIL. The US has dragged their feet on supporting the Kurdish YPG in taking it because Obama doesn't want to offend The Turks who are scared to death of the Kurds being in control of the whole border because then Turkey can no longer play its two faced game. Obama needs to grow a pair. Crazy. The US wants ISIL destroyed, the Turks want Assad and the Kurds destroyed, the Russians want the Free Syrian Army destroyed first, then ISIL, the Syrian Kurds want to create a new homeland, while the Iraqi Kurds make money selling oil to Turkey, so they won't support the Syrian Kurds. And ISIL sits and laughs while everybody fights around them. A recipe for WW III.
