AnOldBiker
Haven't held an AR in over 45 years, then when the wife desided to get her CCW, while waiting for her to finish her class time, I checked out the stores weapons for sale. First AR I held ended up being the .308 I now own. While she was in her shooting portion of the test, I had enough time to zero my rifle in. Damn, hooked again. So Hello all ! AnOldBiker
It's just the DPMS .308 Oracle with the 18" barrel. Only had her enough to put 100 rounds threw her so far. Had a problem the last time I shot an AR, wasn't happy with the 5.56. Carried the M60 10 1/2 months in Nam and and the 7.62x51 felt better. Since they came out with the .308, once shot, it felt like home again. Actually, I haven't taked any pictures yet, either out shooting or cleaned and tucked in the safe. I guess you can say the 7.62x51 is just comfort food for us older guys.

Didn't seem like much until you humped it all day .. and then it felt like your carring the weight of the world. But when needed, I wanted nothing less, just more ammo. beantown
Here's a warm welcome wave from North Carolina. I'm prior 1/9th Air Cav., I can relate to the M60 for sure. That damn pew, pew, pew 5.56 round can't touch the BOOM, BOOM, BOOM of a .308/7.62X51. I love my DPMS LR-308 Oracle. Couldn't decide which to buy a Springfield M1A .308 or a DPMS LR308 Oracle, so now I have one of each, different strokes for some folks! As an old brown shoe Marine that got out in 1966 I appreciate the M1, BAR, M14, M-60. I never liked the "Matel, it's swell" M16 peashooter, prefered the Ruger Mini 14 as a pretty good coyote, bobcat, Javalina shooter,..... but the LR 308 is a different story. (reach out and touch someone.)
AnOldBiker
As a kid I had an old 30-06 before I went in, then the M16A1 was a pee shooter to me. But the .45 acp was a natural. Then when I got the Hog, it was a natural combo. Since out, the .308 (or the 30-06) was like I said comfort food. As for concealed carry, ended up with a micro 9mm for summer carry because I couldn't find a holster that didn't print so big in a tank top, and a .45 acp for the winter with long sleeves, and that feels better. But at the range, with this new rifle, it's like having a mistress with me ... the adrenaline just flows.

unforgiven
Welcome from Indiana and THANK YOU for your service. I had a 73 FX that came with a Hydra glide front end. Had it for the longest. Now I have an 03 superglide and put a factory Wide glide front end on that. Miss the sound of that Shovelhead though.
