alphaomega
OK! I assembled an AR10 in 7.62 x 51 and have an issue. Background...I am using Lancer mags, Rubber City Armory BCG, and using a captured spring buffer system. I am using am adjustable gas block and the rifle cycles great. It's accurate and I really enjoy shooting it. On LRBHO, I eject the mag and insert a full mag. When releasing the bolt, it does not chamber the round. If I pull the charging handle, it will chamber the round. Does the rifle need more "conditioning"? Or, is there something I can check. I run very similar equipment in my AR15s without issue. alphaomega
Thank you! I have cleaned the gun today and did that very thing. I keep having doubts about spring stiffness. If I release the bolt with no mag, it will violently slam the bolt closed. Each time I do that, it erases any doubt about spring stiffness. sketch
Hi. I would check that last mag that jams? Most here soak the bcg over night in motor oil. Ar10 is armalite by brand name, are you using armalite mags and parts?
Armed Eye Doc
How many rounds do you have through it? It may still be breaking in. However, take a picture of the LRBHO and a manual pull to open the bolt. It sounds like it may not going back quite as far when shooting the last round for some reason. 98Z5V
Gas system and Recoil system are not playing nicely together. Open your adjustable gas block setting up to WIDE OPEN, until we sort this whole Race-Gun out. That's the one thing that you can change right now, that won't cost you anything. More details on the barrel first. List the barrel manufacturer and configuration, including gas port diameter and gas block journal size. Lets start there. shooterrex
Welcome from KY. I suspect it is your fancy captured recoil spring set up. More info would help.

It sounds like it may not going back quite as far when shooting the last round for some reason. I have approximately 100 rounds down the tube. I completed barrel breakin (25 rounds) and have done some load development. The buffer/spring combo is the JP captured spring system for 308. By no means is the system what I would call “conditioned”.
