Friend in Madison lost a skylight and the front and rear windows of his car in the driveway in that storm. We got back to Wisconsin on Monday. Got up to smoke a pork shoulder this morning, was 30F at 5AM.

Things are getting serious according to the weather people here. To my fellow members and friends in places like Arizona and New Mexico try not to laugh.

The bold is mine

Special Weather Statement in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver

This is an Early Season Heat Event. What: A period of elevated temperatures is expected. When: Now through Monday. Where: South Coast and parts of Vancouver Island. Remarks: A ridge of high pressure is bringing high temperatures to the region. Daytime highs are expected to be in the high 20's to low 30's with overnight lows in the low to mid teens. High temperatures will persist into early next week.

To translate high 20s to low 30s into fahrenheight thats between 80-90F

Which is why I'll unlikely survive an Arizona summer

Smoke from the Manitoba fires been killing us for the past two weeks. Hacking every morning when I get up. Dog even wants in the house to get away from it. Can’t see the other side of the bay most days.

I’m not noticing my breathing being different other than it feels like my allergies are killing me. But it it’s odd how it seems  like dusk is extra long. Like at 7:30-8 it dims then the sun peaks out under the smoke at 8:45-9 just before sunset

Yeah, it’s totally screwing up my astronomy.
