time Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 hey guys I am new into the world of 308. My current rifles are chambered in either .223/5.56 or .22lr. I am interested in getting out to 800yds. Currently looking at either Laure or LWRC or suggestion by you guys.
EasyEJL Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 welcome from florida. you might also want to look at fulton armory http://www.fulton-armory.com/FAR-308-Rifles.aspx and there are a few others as well. Can't go wrong with the LaRue though at all. or build your own from scratch.
Armed Eye Doc Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Welcome to the forum. There are many here who can assist you in figuring out what you need. The only limiting factor will be your wallet. People here have expensive tastes with other people's money. <lmao> <laughs>
Rsquared Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 People here have expensive tastes with other people's money. <lmao> <laughs> I don't have a clue as to what would make you say such a thing........................................................... Welcome aboard Time.
soofley Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 welcome fellow WA resident. I'm assuming you're somewhere close to central WA since you're doing 800y. can't go wrong with either of those brand. Like everyone said, it comes down to what you can afford.
Matt.Cross Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Like everyone said, it comes down to what you can afford. ...for the moment. Pretty soon we'll be helping you find the most competitive places to sell your neighbors' stuff, without their knowledge of course.... >:D
jrtMA Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Welcome from MA. Many of the guys here definately have expensive taste but will also give you more affordable quality options if you ask. However, with choices like LaRue and LWRC it sounds like you're already willing to open up your wallet and wear the magnetic strips off your CC yourself. Good luck.
DNP Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Haven't we learned anything from big GOV?? It's not about what you can afford...it's never going to work unless you keep throwing credit at it. When you run out on one card, give yourself another. You deserve it. Also, if you don't go deeper into to debt...you hate children, the elderly and poor people...so it must be the right thing to do. Welcome from San Diego. The weather is nice here...but I'm surrounded by ...well, I guess we can just call them democrats.
BLKSHEEP Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 welcome fellow WA resident. I'm assuming you're somewhere close to central WA since you're doing 800y. can't go wrong with either of those brand. Like everyone said, it comes down to what you can afford. ^^ And how long you're willing to wait? Both of those you mentioned are the cream of the crop. The Larue OBR is a DI gas operated rifle, they are known to shoot sub .5 moa . The LWRC "REPR" is short stroke gas piston operated rifle known to shoot .5-1.0 moa, it's a little heaver than the Larue. They were priced about the same last time I checked but the repr comes with better furniture & my guess is they would take 6 - 12 months to get if you order either one. You might find a REPR on GB but I've never seen a Larue there. For the LWRC REPR this is their top dealer http://www.northwesttactical.us.com/ Here's a few more top tier 308AR's > http://www.lmtstore.com/complete-weapon-systems-firearms-guns/308-modular-weapon-system-black-barrel.html .... http://www.jprifles.com/1.2.5_LRP07.php ... http://www.lesbaer.com/AR308.html .... http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=10SBF&ReturnUrl=Categories.aspx?Category=f4bd4a13-55d1-41aa-aea0-49488ec48776 ... http://www.knightarmco.com/portfolio/sr-25-ecr/?cate_cm=commercial&term=sr-25&features=sr-25-ecr ...http://www.pof-usa.com/20-p308-black.html
Rsquared Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Time, also keep in mind that things like mags can be swapped between all of the above mentioned rifles (as soon as you have more than one.....which you will), except for the Armalite. They take their own mags for the "B" pattern rifles. The "A" pattern uses the same style of mags as the rest of them. With that being said, as my tag line says, I love all of my Armalites. especially the SASS, and they're all the "B" pattern.
BLKSHEEP Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Damn, I put Armalite in the top tier list?.... note to self, the doc said only (1) glass of wine each night! :ifly: <lmao>
Rsquared Posted June 28, 2013 Report Posted June 28, 2013 Oh.....now you're just poking! I see how it is. Just for that, you don't get to go first with the AR-10 SBR (Laura) whenever we meet up. <laughs> You can load mags and reload beers at first. Hmmmpphhh!
BLKSHEEP Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) Bahaha you know i'm just kidding bro, I almost pulled the trigger on a Armalite SASS, but decided i'd upgrade to a cmmg. >:D <laughs> <lmao> <laughs> <lmao> :sign10: Edited June 30, 2013 by BLKSHEEP
Rsquared Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Now that's funny. Those are 3 words that you never hear...............upgrade TO CMMG. <laughs>
unforgiven Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 ^^^^ that is fukin funny. That's not upgrade thats degrade. <lmao>
Dane Armory Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Now that's funny. Those are 3 words that you never hear...............upgrade TO CMMG. <laughs> Let. Me use that in a sentence. I worked on a Delton AR15 and after it was fixed the owner sold it and got a CMMG for just a few dollars more !
