Just wait 'til you get out here and witness it, brother - "Target is ON THE GROUND!!!  NO MARKS ON THE TARGET!!!"

Fuckers can shoot a 3/16" chain link at 450 yards.  Can shoot a 1/4" piece of paracord at 850 yards. Can shoot the ass right out of a gnat at 600 yards...

But can't hit the fucking IPSC steel plate that's 18" wide by 26" high...   :hail:

It WILL happen, and you WILL see it, and you will shake your head...  It's pretty fucking epic...

Happy Veteran's day 98, and Happy Veteran's day to the rest of our crew with military service, God Bless you Gentleman, and thank you from the bottom of my heart! I'm proud of my son-in-laws who are in the military or have served! It felt like being back home, to be on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base... it really did. It was epic to see my new son-in-law, put on his camo and combat boots, and go off to work... A-10's and C-130's, the special Blackhawk's of the rescue group there...

One morning he got up and put on his "blues" with his "Garrison" cap, you have no idea how many days I saw that as a child. Khaki's, Blues, and the "Flight Suit"! I am still to this day, so proud of my Dad! went into the USAF in 53, was a radio man on a C-119, accepted into cadets! Flew the T-6, C-45, B-25, and a few hours in the A-26, transitioned into C-119's, then moved to Okinawa into the first oversea's C-130 squadron's. Had 75 hours of combat flying time in SEA, in the MC-130E, then back home to Tennessee, as an IP in the C-130. We made the move to Little Rock AFB, Arkansas, with the school house in 69 and 70, I made some bucks mowing all the little Lt's and Capt's yards and bought an orange Kawasaki 90 SS, I love it!

anyway, I'm still proud to be an Air Force Brat, thank you Gentlemen! thank you, thank you!

and thank you to all you gents who make my shooting more fun, who inspired me to buy my first "BIG" AR, and who's advice and dry wit make this forum family!

a special thanks to you 98, yes sir, you are the "real deal". Helping us all, trying to keep us together like an old mother hen, walking us through all our gun malfunctions, patiently trying to "put the pieces together" as you thoughtfully diagnose each issue! (you really can't help your-self! can you??) If its broke, you gotta fix it...

and I really love watching your temperature rise as you encounter "stoopid", I'm afraid I may have raised your temp a few degree's each new day!

How do you even do that? I mean really?? would have to be in your top three, "best day ever"!

He's not even human, probably a Terminator...   :laffs:

Nah, he spent 10 years on the US Shooting Team, as a shotgunner, lived in Colorado on the facility and all that.  That was his life, for 10 years.  The guy can shoot anything you hand him, and would probably be MOA with a wrist-rocket at 100 yards.  He gifted.

Hell, we had 22.9mph winds the day before - and that Win Mag of his was the only thing that hit the 1050 target, in those crappy conditions.  Bunch of us were crushing the 850, even in those winds.  The .260 Rem was a full 2 1/4 mil wind hold, and that thing is only 1.2 mils in a 10mph full-value wind, for 850 yards.  But it was calm and no wind on Sunday morning.  Still, even if you have a 1 MOA rifle or load, that's 1" at 100 yards...   That's 17.6" at 1760 yards...   That target plate is 18" wide by 26" high, and it was at an oblique angle, too.   He didn't do it in one shot - but he was all around the base of that target, and made an impact on it.  Pure luck that it was dead-ass center of the plate.  He went to the Long Range Shooter's of Utah (LRSU) long distance class in August, and hit the 1000, 1200, 1500, and 1760 targets out there.  Turns out, they're not teaching anything that was new, to what we teach here.  I was hoping for a bunch of new info, or maybe a few new techniques or something - brought back from it.   Nope.  Tells me that we're doing something right, and with detail.

We're going back out there on Saturday afternoon, 21 Nov.  Setting up the same thing again, and the 450 for a night shoot for one of the guys.  He was having recoil system problems during Fall Shoot, but we sorted that out quick - he has all the parts on order now, and wants to run that 450 at night.  We'll punch that 1760 that afternoon, whilst waiting for the darkness to fall upon us.   I'll give it a go with my Win Mag.

Thank you, too, for the kind words for Veteran's Day.  It does mean alot, and I appreciate it.   :hail:

Looks like a lot of fun, and what an amazing shot, the 300 Win Mag is still the magic .30, and no doubt you are gifted as well my friend...  but you are right, who would have dreamed he would/could drill that thing, even with a "lucky shot". I never dreamed it would be that windy in the desert?

dummy right crazy windy and areas of "dust storms" as we drove West on I-10 toward Tucson...

Have fun Bub, and maybe Saturday it will be your turn?? LOL

I appreciate everything you do here for us all, you're quite a diagnostician, you should have been a Dr! but then again, you are the "Gun Dr!"

6.5 grendel,  my bad,  not sleeping too well.

Thats not good!  I gave the Grendel long and serious consideration, I was also considering the 6.8 SPC II, but in the end, most of my shooting is 100 to 300 yds.  I ended up with the 308, because I love .30 and I love AR's, and I NEVER go for any off the grid caliber, I've limited myself to 30-06 and .270 Winchester, and my Dad's old Winchester 94. I did NOT like AR's, I did NOT care about AR's, then my BIL came into some hard times and needed some cash, so I took his AR-15T, loud, obnoxious, and accurate, blew the paint off my Dad's shed the first time I shot it...

So I'm gonna build the 300 HAM'R, (I don't like HAM anymore either), it all really came down to aesthetics, my only complaint are those flat base boolits, but they are .30 cal and Wilson has a 150 gr load at 2300, up to a 90 gr load at 2800.. and lets be really honest. I love the Billet receiver, I like the Tactical Hunter barrel with the flutes, and I love the looks of the cartridge itself, and it looks like a cartridge that's gonna be happy in an AR...

I do love the Grendel, but if I'm smart, I'll wait and build a 6.5 Creed upper for Miss Wilson, and lets face it, Miss Wilson is very well put together indeed, yes she is! I got it out today and shot one group, you know every time I pick that thing up, it just gets better! Federal 150 soft points, but a couple touching, makes me smile thinking about it..

You have to meet him.  I've know him since 2014, now.  I still can't determine if he's a cyborg sent back in time, to us - just to fuk with us.  No human can shoot like this fucker can.

Something just ain't right with him, but I can't prove it.  Yet.  If he ain't another T1000, then he's the Predator. It's the only thing that makes sense in my feeble rat-brain...

This HAS to be his target-acquisition shiit, right here - fucker never misses...

6.5 grendel bcg for 6mmARC build.

Kool, I picked up Little Miss Wilson on Thursday from an old friend with an FFL after the "Specialist" has had some health issues, Beautiful, my Wilson Tactical Hunter Barrel arrived today, the LAST ONE, from Brownell's, now DC'ed by Wilson Combat, and my Wilson Nickle Boron BCG also came from Sun Devil and some numbers in Arizona, also a nice piece... I never knew AR's had so dad gummed many parts----"Parts is Parts"

anyway, NO Wilson Combat M-Lok handguards?? the Guntec looks identical?? Yes?? No?? they all out too! so I've found another one?? any other ideas?? I do like Wilsons system with the long reversible nut with six Loctited screws.

I need a 12 or 12.6 inch handguard ideally to cover the gas block...

I received the bcg from Brownells,  and they shipped quickly.  Ordered an item on special from hornady,  30cal 150 gr, sp interlock so long ago it was a surprise when I received them today.  Decided to reload some 357 and laughed when I could not find primers,  bullets,  or brass.  No loaded stuff either.

larue sent me notice friday that my order was shipping(stock&scope mount). this was ordered sept. 24. amazing how far orders are behind at the gun shops

That's pretty cool, right there.  I ordered my LaRue UU Kit June 17th, and tossed in another LT-158 mount and an extra trigger with it.  They broke the mount and trigger order off the original, and sent it to me two weeks ago (at request, or I was just ordering another of them), but that Ultimate Upper order is closing on 5 months now.  Nov 17th is 5 months - but my call at 4 months, they told me that I had another 1 or 2 months.  Final tidbits for my final 6 ARC project.  They'll get here when they get here.  Not worried about it.

Got a couple rechargeable hadwarmers in today from Amazon. Not quite as hot as the disposable chemical reaction type are but they work pretty decent. They're going to get a good workout the next full week out in the woods.

Stuff 'em in your underwear, and keep your junk warm?  Do they work that well?

If so, I'll grab 2.

THEY work decent. I'm going to order a couple more for hunting & a few for the stocking stuffers for the kids.

The one I put the link for currently has a promotional cupon for $8 off. So $21 total each. 12,000mah battery, lasts 10 to 16 hours low is 113 degrees & high setting is 135 degrees. Both sides get warm also.

I bought one made by Thermacell earlier in the week only 1 side gets warm & it SUCKED HAIRY NUTS!! Returned it on the way home from hunting that night! It threw almost no heat. Completely worthless.
