WOOHOO!! New wheels!!

A 98 Camaro being your dream car may sound silly but in my case there's a reason for it. I spent 2 years planning and investing in to a customization project. I'm basically giving it a supercar look, inside out, borrowing from the McLaren P1, Lamborghini Aventador 50th Aniversary, Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Arrinera Venocara, Bugatti Veyron, and LaFerrari. Interior basically a blend of the Lamborghini Venero and Lykan Hypersport, strongly favoring the Lykan Hypersport.

Anyway, On Monday I made my final big one time investment in to the project. This exact set of wheels, same vender but ordered directly from them. Tracking says they'll arrive on Tuesday.

It's a big deal in a way because the wheels are discontinued and I was at risk of losing the opportunity to use them for quite a while. And now that the money is spent and the wheels on their way, it'll probably be relatively smooth sailing from now on, able to spend more time with the build then searching for odd side jobs to pay for the project. There are still further expenses like carbon fiber, resin, upholstery stuff etc. but nothing too big anymore.

Nice,  what are you gonna run for sneakers? thats gonna be a few bucks as well..

You mean speakers or tires? I already have the tires and even a spare wheel and tire (below). My last big ticket investment (which ended up not being very big due to a mix of good and bad luck) was a double din stereo system with a backup camera, so that part is out of the way. I intend to put in new speakers for them but I am not planning on spending that much as I have hearing problems and sound quality isn't that big a deal as result.

I can appreciate your excitement. there was a time when I was well known as "wheel whore" but my obsession was for rare Japanese racing wheels. had twice as many sets of wheels as I had cars to put them on. my 15x9 flipped/polished epsilons were legend in some circles.

LOL. That's interesting. The ones I'm seeing look like old school fancy sport wheels. My neighbor has a Miata with wheels like that.

In my project wheels are just one piece of the puzzle. They just happen to be an expensive one. For me the main excitement is that the suspense is over and it's all down hill now.

Like the wheels.

Looks like the Camaroghini is well under way.

lol. Those already exist but require chopping the vehicle. Call me immature but I like big jet intakes, something that thing doesn't have.

Looks wise I'm going to fit mine in with the 7 figure supercars, more out of convenience then anything else. LOL

Can't blame you, I am thinking about picking up a Volkswagon Phaeton W12 433 hp AWD. The fastest VW you never heard of. Only 300 in the US. Trouble is finding a low mileage one.

I have a buddy (featured in VW magazine several times) who drives a classic beetle with a 911 Turbo crammed in the back.... talk about sleeper!

If memory serves me correctly, 11.8 in the 1/4 on a perfect run at Sears Point Raceway. (Dq'd for lack of cage)

That's bad ass!! My buddy has a show beetle with a tl1000r motor in it, and another guy I know just built a mid engine mount beetle with a big block in it, I forget the exact size

COOL!! If I ever come up with the $ and facilities to do it, I may some day try my hand at building my own super car by combining a good mix of existing parts and a few of my own ideas tossed in, I figured that if I ever do, an old VW beetle frame with a nice fairly modern but proven V8 might be a good place to start. It seams that you'd affordably have very good power to weight right off the bat.

I personally would go for a more "Lamborghini/Arrinera Venocara look but that's just me. Those beetles supposedly have some excellent aerodynamics to them despite there appearance. Sounds like your friend knows what he's doing.

Looks interesting. Lamborghini makes around 3,000 cars a year and Ferrari a little more then twice that and those things of any year or model are rare as hell. If there's only 300 of those VWs in the USA, wouldn't that be pretty hard AND expensive to get your hands on? Well, in any case, I wish you good luck, Dreams only come true when you pursue them and the main ingredient to success is not giving up.
