What's wrong with my AR-10

Recommended Posts

Years later, I finally finished my AR-10. I attached a youtube link of it being fired in slo-mo to help show you what its doing. All specs are listed in the description.

Not really sure what this thing is doing, looks like the extractor can't get a good grip on the case? When it tries to load a new round, it collides with the spent case and bends the new round going in.

Let me know what you all think

Possibly over gassed?

I read how that could be possible, and the benefits of having a adjustable gas block, any takers? Looks about 90 bux, if their claims are true it would be nice to have one regardless

As far as ejector springs and different extractor claws, I'll try the cheaper route before buying a new gas block. Pardon the ignorance, I've been out of the AR world for a while, do AR15 ejector springs fit in the AR10 bolt? The usual places only have AR15 bolt parts

You need a 308AR dedicated spring for the ejector and extractor. d. wilson sells kits with the springs you need

Armalite sells kits as well ;

You looked long enough to figure out male vs female?

Dang Doc, I certainly hope Robo would post a female pic not a male pic. Then again, ya never know..............Has the course of the poor OP's thread been driven far enough off course yet? :laffs:

In this day and age you can't always tell.

Especially here in Cali. Even when you think you're sure, ready to bet your paycheck, they tell you, "but I identify as a ...."

shit. I can say I dentify as an avocado or a gawdamn porn star, but neither one makes me green or gives me a 10" dork!! If you ain't it, then you don't get to claim it.

Sometimes you think you can tell, but the person in question doesn't agree with you.

Reminds me of the time I mixed up the dogs thyroid medication with my blood pressure pills. I had an overwhelming urge to lick my balls but I couldn't reach them. Wife just put a cone around my head.

Quote , " At this point , what difference does it make "  Even Hitlery had historic input.

I would as said , inspect the Ejector & Extractor assembly's , for burr's or debris in the Bolt where the fit . I have seen Extractors that hold onto the Case too long cause the same type of issues .

Update:

Swapped out the gas block to and adjustable one, turns out I did not have a .025 gap at the barrel shoulder on the last gas block according to the instructions, feel like that would be a critical step? At the range, adjusted the gas low enough to cycle the round, now the spent cases eject forward to about the 2 o'clock position. I did lube it thoroughly as directed in your picture of that critter covered in lube. I did a double tap a few times for good measure and it did a double feed on me as it did in the video

Whats next? Heavier buffer?
