AR-10 not .308

I already mentioned my project in another thread.  Working on a big bore (45 Raptor) AR-10

This is my latest project and is proving challenging to say the least.  I've been covering a lot of unexplored territory I think including boolits of my own design.  (First one a fail).

Also, oh boy, thank God the AR-10 is a powerful strong platform or I'd have blown my gun up by now.   I should show y'all some of the case heads I was getting.  Probably pressures in excess of 70,000 lbs!  Making progress though and am up against a few final details I'd like to iron out. Hopefully I can glean some info off this site and perhaps get a few of you guys interested in trying to go the big bore route.

Other projects I've been involved in is working cast boolit loads for the .300 black out, .38 short colt, .357 magnum and 30-06.  I'm big league into revos and lever guns, but

don't do the cowboy action stuff.  Also into extreme range shooting and occasionally show up at F-class matches where I usually do poorly.

I cast my own boolits and usually coat with Harbor Freight red powder coat in lieu of other lubes. I find this is much more effective at preventing leading at higher velocities.

I've come here to share my experiences and hopefully pick up a few answers to questions I have.

You're working from an Aero Precision set, based on another post you made, so you're not working on an AR-10.

Sorry, but it's the truth.

I don't own an AR-10, and I'm not a brand-snob, so I don't want you to think I'm gonna bust your balls over something like that.

However, I will keep busting your balls until you get it, and quit calling your Aero Precision build an "AR-10."

I've pointed this out to others in the past. You joined a website hosted and attended by firearm enthusiasts. Coming here and calling every large frame AR an "AR-10" would be no different than logging into MotorTrend or TopGear and calling every sports car a Corvette. When you talk about your AeroPrecision AR-10, we all hear you say you own a Ford Corvette. Even our website name "308AR" is a misnomer, as there are now several calibers available in the large frame. We can't even call it a "large frame" because a larger model has already been made.... as I'm staring at my AR-.338LM

no one here is busting your balls.. yet. We're just trying to help you out.

No we're just trying to keep over confident pricks as your self and people who want to learn from making big mistakes. Go hang out on barf.com, sad thing is I knew I'd ban you just didn't think it would be this quick.

Oh and its called a bullet, or projectile......

Yawn... I'm really going to miss the five or six more posts this guy was going to make about never completing his rifle.

Oh oh and his extra special update 9 months from now listing all the excuses of why he still hadn't pulled his head out yet and made a complete rifle.

Poor thing, building a custom AR off of your allowance while living in your mom's basement has to be difficult. Oh well....

He won't be missed.

:laffs: And a new record for pissing everyone on the Forum off! Some people just have "The Gift". Also, what's a boollit?

But it's totally ok to call any piece of crap rifle you build in 5.56/.223 an AR-15 !?!?

Because there's a mil standard there. If you go by your dpms lr308 lower an ar10 upper because everyone calls 308 AR's ar10's your gonna be building two rifles instead of one

btw I call my "ar15" my 556ar
