KAK LR308 Dual Ejector Bolt

Got the KAK LR308 dual ejector bolt on Friday; for rifle with Aero upper & lower, with Lantac BC, Timney trigger.

Many reasons but basically I was curious to see if it might be more reliable and last longer.

I shoot one or more of my guns daily; more so if a Republican is in office.

So the KAK bolt functioned well but felt a little ‘rough’; and it seized up on FTF dud rounds. Had to drop the mag, grab the charge handle and slam rifle butt on a hard surface.

Yeah, I shoot cheap ammo to practice; I also demand my guns to shoot anything and everything and go bang first time every time. Loathe temperamental guns.

Contacted KAK and Kurt Kosman, President, replied to my email; basically he assumed I was an idiot and whatever was wrong was my fault.

So I went back and re-checked head space and looked it over for anything that appeared off.

Finally I decided all looked good and perhaps it just needed some trigger time to break in.

I shot up my personal range and by 200 rounds the cycling felt smoother and it quit locking up on FTF dud rounds.

Today I’m at 350 rounds and the gun is running smoothly and 100% reliable now.

So I wanted to pass on to my gun-brethren my experience;

KAK LR308 Dual Ejector Bolt works very well, but needed to be broken in.

I won’t swear by it until I hit 10k rounds and shoot it in a few 2-gun matches; but with Biden in office that will take longer than usual.

Oh yeah; don’t bother contacting KAK. If you want to be blown off with less wait, call your ex.

I'll make a couple of assumptions here since you didn't specify.

This is a new rifle?  First time out?

If this is correct why in the world are you using cheap ammo for the break in?  You just added a variable you could have eliminated by using quality ammo.

How lubed was this new bolt and carrier?    If it wasn't dripping wet with oil oozing out of every orifice it wasn't wet enough.

You stated:

If my above assumptions are correct what was wrong WAS YOUR FAULT and not the fault of KAK.  You slapped new parts together most likely without enough lube to get them to mate smoothly and expected them to run perfectly.

Today I’m at 350 rounds and the gun is running smoothly and 100% reliable now.

Gee!  Imagine that!   After a break in period it works.

KAK makes excellent products that many around here use.  I'm sure they get tired of consumers complaining about something not working properly when a little common sense on the part of said consumer could have made the e-mail or call to them unnecessary.

Please get into more detail on this - since making an Intro Post is so way beyond you.

If I offended you with that, then just make an Intro Thread.  Here's where you do it:

Go get busy now...

Thanks in advance.  Please don't fuk it up.  We're rooting for you.

I built the rifle in 2012 and have worn out two barrels since then. I shoot a lot; minimum  20k rounds a year. More when republicans are in office.

I have been a trigger-puller since I was in the military in the 1980’s.

I joined this site to find and share experiences with patriotic gun-nuts; not beta-male asshats parked on their couches who only shoot video games.

98Z5Z and dpete clearly want to tear down people than talk about guns. You guys are eunuchs.

As a veteran I’m ashamed I served for people like you.

I have better things to do and will not be back to this site.

I took that as a comment on ammo pricing during republican administrations? We getting a little jumpy in here or did I miss a different thread?

Not really. The request for an intro thread might have been a bit abrasive, but it went from that to FU in a hurry. The thick-skinned test was failed and I’m betting it was only a matter of time based on that.

I’m not sure what the Republicans comment triggered, and I read that as “ammo is available, affordable, and I’m not concerned it’s going to disappear at any moment”. I agree with that. I usually don’t have a very deep stash (when talking in comparison to most gun guys - I have an “arsenal” ready for war when looked at by the non-gun owning crowd), but I haven’t shot as much with the current admin and the state of things.  I’m holding what I have and try not to blow through too much. Hoping it gets to a point I can re-stock soon.

If he is as knowledgeable as he implies, or had read some threads, he would realize the challenge our more knowledgeable members have weeding out issues with new 308 AR owners at times. Respect is earned. You don't get it by demanding it, and flipping people off. By the way, thanks for your service. Even if you are an aszhat, it is appreciated. Note to self: KAK ejectors need to be broken in, just like most 308 builds overall do.

I've been a trigger puller since I was a kid, then when I (also) was in the military in the '80s, '90s, and 2000s...

I do more than sit on a couch and only shoot video games.

As a Retired Veteran, I'm ashamed that there were spinless little whiny assheads like you IN the military.  I woulda Chaptered your sorry ass out.

I bet it was a dry bolt like a dry run in a wet dream some how it just does not work!

Eh, whatever.  We could have solved the issue, with a little information.

Instead of providing information, the OP's decision was "I'll just be all butthurt instead."

Then he states that he quit.

That's alright, though - because nobody like a quitter.   Good riddance.
