392heminut Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 So, there I was sitting at the local Friends of NRA dinner the other night with about $200 worth of raffle tickets. My wife had talked me into buying a $100 ticket package that had one blue ticket for a Franchi Affinity shotgun and something like 30 tickets to put in buckets sitting in front of other items you're interested in. I had also bought into about $100 worth of raffles on other guns. Most of the tickets from the package went into buckets for guns too. As the winners are called for each raffle I throw my now worthless ticket for that raffle into a red solo cup sitting on the table in front of me. Finally I'm sitting there with a solo cup full of tickets and the one blue ticket the only thing left on the table and I'm thinking "well, this is a done deal. At least my money went for an excellent cause!" The announcer rattles off the number of the blue ticket, and damned if it isn't the same as mine. I won that Affinity 12 ga. shot gun! I gotta say, this is one sweet gun!
BLKSHEEP Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 You lucky dog! <thumbsup> I've never heard of that brand but it looks like a quality gun, Benelli being the parent company says a lot. http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/gun-nuts/2012/06/good-shotguns-franchi-affinity
Microgunner Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Congratulations. I've always liked Franchis.
jrtMA Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Wow, congrats! A family friend went to a similar event a few years back and literally won 3 out of a dozen of the prizes. There was a good turnout too and he almost got jumped on his way out the door lol.

392heminut Posted August 3, 2013 Author Report Posted August 3, 2013 Shepp, it was a lot of fun. Got to chat with a lot of old friends I hadn't seen in a while and just being able to visit with a lot of gun people is really a great way to spend an evening. What other function can you go to and talk about nothing but guns? None that I know of! <thumbsup>

planeflyer21 Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 Congrats Larry! I've always liked the Franchis...you'll enjoy that one. I've been to acouple of the Friends of the NRA banquets, as our shooting club gets a table every year. Both I went to, Big George sat to my right and both years he won rifles, a Mini14 Tactical first, a S&W M&P .22 second. I'm sitting on his right next month.

392heminut Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) Well guys, we did it again! Went to this years NRA banquet last Saturday night and won TWO guns! And an NRA desk fan and a concealed carry purse. My wife won the purse and it came with a Beretta 21A .22LR pistol, and I got a Kel Tec PF9 which oddly enough, was the last gun drawn for, just like the shotgun I got last years was! The desk fan was a surprise. I had something like 80 raffle tickets to drop in buckets of the items I was interested in and most went into the buckets for the guns. I put ONE damn ticket in the bucket for that fan and it was the only thing I got off that raffle table! The other stuff we won was individual raffles. There were 7 people sitting at our table and we won 5 guns total! I may skip the banquet next year, there is no way my luck could run like that for 3 years in a row! <lmao> Edited July 22, 2014 by 392heminut
shepp Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 That purse will match your eyes nicely lol!!!! Congrads!
392heminut Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 My wife has a purse fetish, she had her eye on it the whole night! You should have seen her when they called her ticket! <lmao>

98Z5V Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Well guys, we did it again! Went to this years NRA banquet last Saturday night and won TWO guns! Larry, please explain to me again, why you're not buying Lottery tickets?... <dontknow> That's AWESOME, brother!!! :hethan:
392heminut Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 Larry, please explain to me again, why you're not buying Lottery tickets?... <dontknow> That's AWESOME, brother!!! :hethan: I've tried that Tom! I've never gotten a damn thing on a lottery ticket, not $1, not $5, nothing!
Rsquared Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 You sure that you're not stacking the deck? <laughs>
392heminut Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 Nah, I was pretty surprised myself. I went to that thing not expecting to win anything after the score I made last year! Over the last year I've been to several motorcycle poker runs where I always buy door prize tickets and didn't win a thing. I usually come away with something, even if it's just a baseball cap but this last year has been like a desert I tell ya. I figured my mojo had just left for good! :-[ It's all good though, I always look at it as a donation to a good cause and don't really expect anything. I figure it's worth it just to hang out with friends!
