blue109 Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 crunch time, and we still have no name. my daughter is Luna. we initially thought we were having a girl and chose Nova. liked the idea of keeping the celestial theme going. turns out he's a he. wife still likes Nova, I think is sounds a little to girlie. don't want anything common or trendy. post up any cool boy names you may have seen. ethnicity is Spanish/Mexican and Irish/slavic. been looking in mythology...astronomy...astrology...throw some stuff out there.
Toolndie7 Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 made me think of Haley but that aint gonna help you for a boys name.
shepp Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 How about a constalation like Orion which is also "the hunter" and my favorite Metallica song.
edgecrusher Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 How about a constalation like Orion which is also "the hunter" and my favorite Metallica song. +1
blue109 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Report Posted July 28, 2014 hunter and Orion were both on the list. hunter is a little too common these days and Orion didn't call out to me. we looked at words like sun and sky in different languages but havnt liked anything enough.

Agreed I've always liked hunter but way played out these days
blue109 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Report Posted July 28, 2014 my hippy massage therapist aunt in nor Cal suggested Bodhi (buddhist stuff), and I liked it, but the wife used veto power. said it was a dog name lol. she likes Zion, but it feels a little heavy on the Hebrew. jury is still out.
Microgunner Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 Eventide. Means: dusk, evening, night, gloaming, nightfall. Kinda goes with Luna.
Matt.Cross Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 I was always fond of Bob as a name, but my wife nearly killed me when I pitched it for my baby boy's name. He became Theodore Matthew instead....

sketch Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 I met a cool cat in Maui named jayden (spelling?) he was ausi. Never herd that name again?
shepp Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) I met a cool cat in Maui named jayden (spelling?) he was ausi. Never herd that name again? Know a few people who've named their daughter Jayden Edited July 28, 2014 by shepp
blue109 Posted July 29, 2014 Author Report Posted July 29, 2014 actually, Jayden and Aiden are super common over the past few years. it's the new mike. micro...that's a little cumbersome, but you are on my wavelength.
DNP Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 "Betelgeuse" The shoulder star of Betelgeuse is visibly orange-red in colour - because it is a red giant star. Rigel, at Orion's foot, is another very bright star. Beneath the belt is the Orion Nebula. In ancient Ireland, the constellation was not known as Orion, but was probably the stellar representation of the great king, Nuadu of the Silver Hand.
392heminut Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 I met a cool cat in Maui named jayden (spelling?) he was ausi. Never herd that name again? That's my grandson's name, Jayden Chase. I told my son his name sounds like a fukin bank! <lmao>
blue109 Posted July 29, 2014 Author Report Posted July 29, 2014 I like Harper, wife made the stink eye.
DNP Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 I'm with the wife on that one. Reminds me of the "hopper" commercials.
Sisco Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 "Betelgeuse" The shoulder star of Betelgeuse is visibly orange-red in colour - because it is a red giant star. In ancient Ireland, the constellation was not known as Orion, but was probably the stellar representation of the great king, Nuadu of the Silver Hand. I started reading this thread and that name popped into my head. Read further down and DNP had suggested it. The only problem is it also sometimes references the guy in the furnace down under. How about a Celtic name? Maybe Brendan?
blue109 Posted July 29, 2014 Author Report Posted July 29, 2014 looked at Celtic names. nothing popped. couple maybes. I was just cross referencing solar bodies and mythology and thought Mars (or even Aries) would be cool. God of war and all that. quickly received the stink eye.
sketch Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 I have a cousin named dude no joke! He can't touch guns!
Robocop1051 Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 I won't lie. I'm sort of bias towards Rob. Lol The names I suggested to my wife, that were all vetoed: ● Roman ● Judge ● Angel (although he did get Angelo as a middle name) There were more, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I had a buddy named Ursa. My buddy named his son Ronan, which is Celt for "oath". Names we have on reserve... just in case... are Wade and Colt.
