Hey folks. A friend of mine told me about this forum and I decided to join up. I own three Armalite AR-10s, and purely love the things. I'm a long time believer in "form follows function", and I appreciate that they are pretty much impervious to dirt and weather.

I grew up hunting in the "wood and blue" era, and didn't care much for having to break the gun completely down to clean up after a wet hunt. But the thing that really killed it for me was when I took a deer on my 18th birthday and somehow managed to get blood on my pristine Winchester M70. Blood removes blueing better than nitric acid! So when I got a chance to pick up a brand new HK-91 during their intro sale ($399.00 shipped) I jumped on it, and carried the 91 on every hunt from 1985 on.

In 2011 I had to get my boy a deer rifle, and thought it would be a good idea for us to be able to share accessories and mags, but HK-91s were all in the high $2K range, so I got him an Armalite AR-10A4BF and a Bushnell Elite 6400 scope. Then we're off to the range, and the damned thing shoots circles around my HK! His AR is making 1.0 MOA at 100 yds, and the HK is shooting more like 2-2.5! And then there's the crappy HK trigger. I tried everything to tighten up the groups, but in the end nothing helped. So I sold the silly thing and got an AR-10BNMF. Field weight is about 12 1/2 lbs, but it will shoot sub MOA groups all day.
