All I can say is that that is the biggest bunch of bs I have seen since my grandfather's dairy farm.  The soldier who filed the class action lawsuit got his debt forgiven only so he didn't have reason for the lawsuit any more.

This whole thing is more of a crooked California National Guard problem, with it's leadership IN the California National Guard, than anything else.

For those that aren't aware, each state National Guard is run by the Governor.  Each state National Guard answers to the Governor.  They're just a call-up for national forces, in time of need, but they answer to the state, first and foremost.

Crooked leadership offered fraudulent bonuses to people that didn't qualify for said bonuses.  Soldiers took that bonus, signed on, and got paid.

Later down the road, we find out that a bunch of guys fraudulently received bonuses that they weren't entitled to.

Here's the real question...  it's OBVIOUSLY not the Soldier's individual fault that they signed (re-enlisted) for a bonus.  But they're the ones on the hook to repay it.

Let's find out who the motherfukers were that are REALLY at fault here.  And, make THEM pay back all those fraudulent bonuses that others received, because of their incompetence, stupidity, whatever-afflicted-them-at-the-time...

The usual happenings appear to be going on here. Those that are high enough on the food chain are high enough up to dodge the flying turds, and shidt rolls down hill landing on the bottom catch basin of the California one holer privvy.  That is where the field fodder deplorable bastards hang out. I've been there.....

Must be a state by state issue with the Guard. My nephew is our local guard CO and hasn't had any issues there with bonuses. He must be following the rules because he is having a hard time getting and keeping anything, even soldiers!

McCarthy claiming he will get to the bottom of this and fix it. Talk is cheap and BS about administration and beaucrates needing to pay for their mistakes won't happen, the soldiers are stuck with it.

Hat is off to Secretary of Defense Carter for doing the right thing! Now our government needs to do the right thing and erase any debt these soldiers might owe because of this. They stepped up in good faith and nothing less and we, as a country, owe it to them!

Carter did the right thing, but 98's point is still valid. Track down the crooks inside the California NG who started this mess.

They also need to go back, now, and find all those Soldiers that just said "Fuk it, I'll pay it and be done!"

They need to give that money back, AGAIN, to those guys that just poop out the money because they'd had enough...

Based on what was on the news tonight, the debts have not been forgiven. They still say some of the soldiers should have known that they didn't deserve the bonus and may still have to repay. Nothing regarding those who have repaid.
