Ive seen them with the whole bottom of the can cut out but thats more work! And dulls a knife fast..

The video I watched the guy took a block +\- 1" tall and set a razor blade on it. Rotated the can 4-5 times around and just scored the side like a tubing cutter would. Then he pressed in with his thumb and popped it of. Went pretty slick. might be a fun project for our camping trip this week.
