Rsquared Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 I found out from a friend of mine today, that a mutual friend passed last Friday. Arthur Perry was a good man. He was a good Marine. He did his time in Vietnam. Then later went on to do about 20 years on the DC police force.....in parts of DC that were considered the Beirut areas. He himself told me once, when I asked why he would want to be a cop in DC, "I figured that I survived tours in Vietnam.......then I'll survive here doing this. Besides.....chasing crooks is optional". That was his kind of humor when it came to middle and upper management of the force. The guy had MANY great stories of his time as a DC cop. Few of his time in Vietnam. Which I totally understood. Even though I hadn't seen our brother Arthur for almost (damn....almost 15 years now), I feel (NO...I KNOW) that he was one of us. So hold your glasses up high gentlemen. Another Ground-Pounding, Jarhead, DevilDog of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children has passed on.A firm and steady salute to you my brother.SEMPER FI!Carry on.....................................................................
planeflyer21 Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Man, sorry to hear that R2. Prayers sent!
Sisco Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Here's to Arthur. I Had a friend, Mike, who I lost touch with, was a veteran of the Marines and the D.C. PD as well. I am betting Arthur had as many storys about them both as Mike did. Takes a special kind of man.
shepp Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Toast to Arthur! Sorry for your loss brother

DNP Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Sorry to hear. May he be welcomed with open arms. Sounds like he was a good man.
GreyGoose Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Here's to Aurthur Perry! We've lost so many good guys from the greatest generation era, I remember as a kid the WW2 guys were everywhere and it wasn't uncommon to get the chance to easedrop in on them sitting around swapping stories. Its a shame to lose a good guy who followed in those men's footsteps at what sounds like a fairly young age.
slugger43 Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Sorry for your loss R2. Toast to a man who made a positive difference in our world. RIP
Sharkey Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 The greatest tragedy of losing truly good men, is there seems to be so few stepping up to replace them. All of the "stand up men of old" could very well end up going the way of the dinosaur as we are all replaced with drones, I-pad addicted cyborg sheeples and liberals who all scream about their rights with not enough brains to either watch their "rights" disappearing with no one left to defend them.May he be 3 days in heaven before the devil knows he's gone and may God bless those left behind who cared.
unforgiven Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Toast to Arthur! Sorry for your loss brother+1 that God welcomes brother Arthur in heaven with open arms. It's never goodbye but see you later.

edgecrusher Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 This has been cleaned up, let's keep it appropriate. Any questions can be forwarded to me via pm. Sorry for your loss brother, he is on to the halls of Valhalla.
392heminut Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Sorry for your loss Ron. I had a buddy that was also a Vietnam vet and 12 years with DC Metropolitan Police before he couldn't take the B.S. any more and quit. He too hardly ever talked about Vietnam. He died of cancer that was almost certainly caused by agent orange. It does hurt to lose guys of that caliber!
