Highest round count you have ran an AR15/AR10 without cleaning?

This article was what opened my eyes to how reliable an AR can be without cleaning it. I used to clean my AR15 everytime I shot it but not so much now of days. My Colt 6920 hit around 7k rounds with no cleaning and I had zero issues with it. It has been through several carbine courses and generally beat to poop but keeps ticking. I only recently cleaned it after changing gas the rings.

Anyways, what about you guys?

We've been "testing" a lube for a couple years now that blows everything else out of the water.  None of the information or results on it are public, but I'll drag a few of the testimonials and statements out here, specifically about it's performance.    Shoot me a PM, and I'll send you a bottle of it - try it, run it, tell me what you think - right here.  Just don't mention the name yet.  About the only thing I have public on it is this stuff, when I built the .338 Fed gun.  You KNOW you have to heavily lube a .308-sized AR to get that thing to run, when new - but not with this stuff...

Here's the build thread on that gun - the vids are on page 4 on there.

I love Slip products, for now that is what I recommend people buy. When the lube 98 refers to goes public that will be the one. 1,000+ rounds from a suppressed 300 blackout before I had an issue, some of this was below zero temperatures. It made cleanup a breeze, a little dab will do. The stuff is the schit!

This topic comes up on just about all Gun Forums & its not how long you can go with out cleaning & lubricating Firearms , its what kind of service life you want out of them & their Components & Parts . Lack of cleaning & Lubrication will undoubtedly reduct service life of Parts .

That Lubricant from 98 is some of the best lubricant I have ever used .

in the military there were times when I would run a few thousand rounds through my m4 in a day without it being cleaned or lubed. but survivalshop has a good point, and I sure as heck wasn't buying parts for my military rifle. I can't afford to shoot the amounts I shot while I was in the military so don't have those worries. plus I find cleaning my weapons to be relaxing.

So when will you be able to release more info on that lube you were talking about?  Or is it more of a home brewed secret recipe type of thing?

I'm not the manufacturer or developer, but very good friends with the guy that came up with it.  Long story, but I told him how I was using some of his products as gun lube.  It all started there, and snowballed into an official lube, in it's final form now.  It's not official as a company product - yet.  It's about 95% there, though, as far as being official.  It's just the waiting game now...  In the meantime, The Strike Industries Anti-Venom lube is the best stuff out there, but it's super thin and flies off.  Good lube, though.  Second best is M-Pro 7, that you can get right at Walmart.  Those two beat just about everything out there.  This stuff that we can up with blows both those out of the water.

I use motor oil for lube and CLP for most cleaning. I would not mind trying something new though. Thanks for the recommendations. Let me know when that other stuff comes out , I might just give it a try.

Is this stuff on the market yet 98?  Any way I can get a sample of the stuff as well?

Ironic that you ask, and bring this topic back to life.  It IS available for purchase now, and you could probably order it online - let me check into the details on that.  The name has changed, based on the company that pushed it to market, and committed the marketing funds to getting it out to the public.

The final labels were finished last week (right after the Fall Shoot, right?...).   Once the initial batch of labels came out, it was realized that the writing on the back was too small.  It was shortened up, and printed larger, so here's the only look you'll ever get of the original "final" labels.

Here's what the back of that bottle says, in case that came up too small...

A-Z premium gun lube is the best damn gun oil on the market. Hands down. No questions asked. Whether you are a competition shooter, hunter, or a range fanatic, you will notice that our gun oil is the answer to all of your firearm needs.

Our oil is manufactured in the good 'ole USA by Americans with a passion for advancing shooting sports to the next level. This is the reason we take care to only use the finest oils to protect your firearm from any conditions you can throw at it. Where other oils fail, A-Z premium gun lube continues to perform and keep you in the fight.

If performance and protection are the most important things you think about for your gun oils, there is no substitute for the best! No matter which gun you are using, if it's your collector piece or your truck gun, We've got you covered from A-Z!

I just wanna see this gun oil get big enough to have challengers challenge it - they'll soon find out that their stuff comes up short.  I kid you not.  The money was spent on other oils, to compare it to this, and they all came up short...  Far short...  We're more than 2 years through the original testing, when I sent this all out to you guys to run, try, abuse, etc.  YOUR contributions, abuse, testing...  Brought this here.  You guys did this.   :hail:

Roman's fuckin' Dirt Test did this...

For the original testers - I have 18 bottles of the new-label stuff to send out.  Appreciation gift, in a way.  Get me your ship-info via PM, and I'll get one on the way to you.  @JBMatt

I still have the rifle, get me a labeled bottle and I'll do a bigger, better test and post it up. 👍🍻 It's time to test! 🤘
