Again, small baby steps.  Picked up the lower today.

The two items I was most worried about are in-hand - the lower, and the barrel.  The Ultimate Upper Kit still hasn't shipped yet, so I won't be painting this coming weekend, that's for sure.  I guess I should move my "worry" on to the ammo that hasn't shipped yet.  Waiting on the first 200 rounds to ship.  Done been paid for, was listed "in stock..."

Nice clean lines and that buffer tower looks plenty beefed up,  thick shoulders,  should last for generations.  Very cool.  Waiting on a hundred rounds as well,  everybody is sold out.  Probably a lot of folks interested in this round.

Who let you have a vacation?  I hope you’re having a good time with the family @Matt.Cross. I really do.

We're having a great time! Leaving the NC coast today to visit Charleston, SC overnight and then on down to FL for the remainder of the week.

@DayWalker, I talked to LaRue today, and asked about your rail - lead time is 1~3 weeks, and they're not behind on those.  When I asked about the lower,a week after ordering it, they told be lead time was 2~3 weeks - that lower shipped in 11 days.  Hopefully, that's their pattern, and you'll get some tracking on your rail soon.  BECAUSE...  I asked about my lead time on the UU Kit...  and they told me that the lead time on those was 1~3 MONTHS...  Hey, I get it.  I just hope it's not at the 3-month end of that lead time...   :laffs:

At any rate, Baby Steps...   I checked on the ammo today, and it actually had a tracking number.  I checked the tracking number, and it said it was delivered - to my work, where I am all day - at 9:43am.  I went looking at the boxes that were dropped off - Hmmm...   nothing for me.  I ask my parts guy if he has a box with my name on it.  He looks, nothing.  Oh, and my UPS guy is a complete dipshiit, too.  Thought I'd add that in there.  I walk to the business next door...  "Hey, you guys receive a box that wasn't for you?"  Their answer - "Well, what was it?"  My response:  "Oh, it's a box of precision match ammunition - did Mike deliver it you you?..."   YEAH, WE WERE WONDERING WHAT THE HELL THAT WAS!!!

Helps if you look at the name on the box, before your parts-monkeys cut the fucking boxes open, right?  That's apparently above them - to check that the packages they received are actually THEIR packages...  :bitchslap:

Which again, takes me back to my dumbass UPS driver.  Fucker delivered it to the wrong place.  AGAIN.   :bitchslap:

Some people.  I swear.  So, anyway, a little bit more headway, in this quest of the "touted perfect cartridge."  I'm telling you, once all this shakes out, we're gonna find out how perfect it is, men.

At least I have 300 projectiles already - and now I have ammo to zero the scope, break in the gun- and 200 pieces of brass to reload.  The Lee Factory Crimp Die for this caliber will be released on 14 August.  I'm in the backorder line for one.  No dies from Hornady yet, but I'll take Hornady, RCBS, or Lee - whoever comes up first.  No brass from Hornady yet, and I'll stick with their brass, or Starline Brass.

I can check this off my worry-list.  Everything from here on out is just gravy.

Nice! I appreciate you doing the footwork on that for me brother, couple of weeks isn’t bad for me since I still need to get a barrel and bolt. Now though, the UU kit...man that stings. It’s gonna totally be worth it, but man that wait is gonna be painful. I only have the stripped upper and lower sitting here and I’m chompin at the bit to build the fuker.

You're not the only one.  I have lower, barrel, ammo, projos...   and I'm a parts-shipment away from a full gun, with that UU order.  Optic is on the way already - Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 HD.  It's the 2.5-15 Mil scope.  It's basically the same scope that I put on the 16" Grendel Mod H, but that one was the first gen.  I pulled this thing for $519.  Unreal.

I'm so fuckin JACKED UP over this gun, it's not even funny.  I really think it's all that hype - that it's supposed to be.  Grendel smokes Valkyrie.  This bastard better smoke Grendel, all I can say.  :laffs:

I found some interesting shiit on the 108 ELD-X match load, velocity-per-inch-of-barrel.  I should be jamming 2600fps through the 18" barrel.  I'll plug that shiit into a calculator and see what's up.  Hornady load data is always "conservative," and I find my best performing loads just a tick over what their book-max is - everytime - so I'll see if I can push this fucker a little faster.  I'll be calling them tomorrow and waterboarding them over the load data (still not published), and reloading die information.

Keep on larue. They forgot about me when their rem 260 barrels arrived and when I called at the projected 12 week lead time they apologized and sent it out right away. Only bad experience I got from them. That and the small barrel port but I think it may have been set up for ar15 buffer system. I do like LaRue stuff

That was a new caliber for them, too, for what it's worth.  A few years ago at SHOT, I asked them about the possibility of them making a .260 Rem gun, and they said they had their hands full with 6.5 Creedmoor, so it didn't look promising.  Then...  Boom.    LaRue .260 OBR.

Mover and shaker. I don’t hold it against them. I have been happy with them and they tried to tell me how to fix the barrel but it didn’t make sense for what I was doing. The first order I got from them was one of their mounts and a aim point pro. They sent a bunch of swag with the order including a hat, dillo dust, bottle opener, can pour spout, couple god bless our snipers stickers. They have always been helpful when on the phone and respond to emails. I got no probs with them just didn’t want you to fall through the cracks like I did. I know you have dealt with them before and didn’t need the help but wanted to pitch in where I can.

I know the rifle is the dreaded...CMM. I can’t even say the whole word, for fear of what might happen. Don’t care about the rifle, only care about the round. According to this guy @98Z5V, he’s getting just over 2600FPS from a 16” gun. I can’t wait to see what the 18” does

Gonna be exciting, I'm positive.  I'm way more fired up over this one that that damn Valk.  Can't wait to sling lead with it.  My 1~3 month wait is killin' me.  If it's really 3, then it would get to me mid-September - not alot of time to lock a load down.

News from Hornady today - No idea on packaged brass, for a timeline, because the committment is to the military ammo that they're making, then to the commercial loaded ammo that they're making.  After that, it's packaged brass.  The "Custom Grade" reloading dies will be available by the end of the month. I've got a couple sets of those dies, and they're damn nice.

At least I'll be able to reload the brass that I have, after shooting it up.

@DayWalker, that's a good vid from KotaBoy32, but he stated something that caught my attention, on the 6.5 Grendel side of the house.  He stated "that from a 16" or 18" Grendel, I was getting 2300fps, give or take some change."

He never stated if it was the 16", or the 18", later, and I don't know what ammo he was shooting when he got that 2300fps.

However,...      ...my chrono'd pet Grendel load gives me:

12.5" shorty pistol gun - 2369fps

16" Mk12 Mod H gun - 2495fps

18" SPR gun - 2534fps

Same load, shot through all three guns.  Shiit, same load shot through all 5 guns.  I need to chrono that load through the other (lighter) 18", and the 16" Grendel M4.

^^^  That right there is why I'm itchin' so bad to drive this thing hard, and really, really test it out.  I've got the guns to test it against.  I need to unfuk my SPR .224 Valk handload, and really get that thing dialed, with the 88gr ELD-M projectiles, before we truly pit these bitches against each other.

There's some shiit comin' down, men.  We're gonna find it all out, I guarantee.

This guy is a reloading NINJA, and this is the best info I've found so far on reloading this 6 ARC.  There is almost nothing substantial out there yet...  This guy rocks. :hail:

Interestingly enough - he's using all Heavy 5.56 powders, or Heavy .308 Win powders.  I have tons of that stuff sitting around.

It's driving me crazy already...  Sssssshhh!!!  SHUT UP!    :bitchslap:

"Waited 5 months for a complete rifle from LaRue.  I waited so long I was confused when they notified me it was ready."   Old stale reply that was already written.

That's not bad for a complete rifle. Ask @edgecrusher how long he waited for his OBR - and when he ordered it, it was still called the OSR.  Look up the history on the LaRue OSR...

Giant BigDickhead Swan took offense to this.  And filed a lawsuit.  Cockwagon that Dick Swan is. The LaRue OSR had to change to the LaRue OBR - because of Dickhead Swan. Fuk Dick Swan.

There's some pretty epic shiit out there on this, and the fallout.  It's fuckin' GREAT.

This is nice "beginning" history:

Order a custom bolt-action rifle from GA Precision, and see how long it takes.
