Yoos guys are a lot more knowledgeable on war machines than I am. My time was spent poking holes in the ocean. Didn’t get to see much except when we pulled into a foreign port and hit the bars.

I've been in ALOT of Blackhawks, brother, UH-60s and MH-60s.  Lot of CH-47s and MH-47s, too.  And alot of MH-53s.  All those MH birds had miniguns.  The giveaway in the pic was the skin of the aircraft, where the rivets were in the skin, compared to the door-gunners window.

There isn't an AC-130 that has a gunner exposed, though - the only thing exposed through the skin of the aircraft is the barrels of the different gun systems. AC-130s are a different animal altogether, on another level from rotary-wing armed aircraft.

Oh, and FUK MH-53s.  They're a hoot to ride in, but it's always terrifying. They're never fun to fast-rope out of.  It takes a ton of Intestinal Fortitude to go off that ramp, reach a few feet after the end of the ramp, just to grab that rope.  You need to ratchet your nuts up TIGHT to 'rope out of the back of that fucking flying contradiction.  :embarrassed:

Marines all fast rope through the Hell Hole, which is gay - and there's nothing "fast" about it.  Roping off the ramp is another world.  Rotor wash from that thing, hovering 60 feet AGL, is 100mph on the ground - that makes the rope off the tailgate stand out there at 45* away from the aircraft...   It's a leap of faith to leave that ramp, and nail that Fast Rope...  You only have one chance, every time you do it.  You really only get ONE CHANCE to fuk it up...   :hail:

Fuk those 53s.  :thefinger:

I get to see em all everyday just not up close. We are right in one of the popular Ft Rucker training flight paths. They fly right over the house as they go up and down the chatahoochee river. Those big twin rotor bastards can really shake the windows. The blackhawks are sometimes hard to see cause they barely clear the trees. Kinda fun watching them. I have never been up close or in one and would certainly not care to swing on a rope from one. That’s for you crazy fukkers. :hail:

So, do you think this is natural/normal?

At the risk or derailing the photo thread....again...I’m gonna ask AOC for her opinion.

What I think is you’re making a statement about climate with that question. Define normal. Are you basing that question over what’s been normal during our existence on this rock?  It’s not a fart in the wind to the time this thing has been around. Normal - the new normal?  The old normal?  Normal normal?

yes.

Yes! Our planet (this rock) has been circling the sun for approximately 4 billion years. And we're supposed to think that the tens of thousands of years that our ape-like selves have been crawling around on it, or more specifically, the couple hundred of years since the industrial revolution has caused a major impact in how it's ecosystem functions?

Who's to say that it's not a natural occurring phenomenon of the planets' orbit? Over time, it's orbit may shift gradually (minutely) outward to cause it to drift (just a little) farther. Bringing on what was referred to as the Ice Age. Or, it's orbit may reduce just by that same amount. Bringing on, the dreaded.....Climate Change....Global Warming....Dogs and Cats living together.....complete insanity.

OR......we just learn how to adapt and deal with it.....as humans have since the dawn of time.

When dealing with nature.....nature always has the upper hand. Because it's operating on a scale of forces that we can't control. All we can do, as a species, is adapt.

An electric car, or a hydrogen car, or a solar panel, a windmill, or a magic green new deal isn't going to stop nature.

The earth has evolved and changed and will continue to evolve and change with or without humans.

What's the hottest Earth's ever been? | NOAA Climate.gov

Seems the polar ice caps haven't always been there and there has been more than one ice age.

Solar cycles will have way more to do with our planets temperature than the minute orbital shifts.

Go back and match up solar cycles with planeary temperature shifts.....and at the base of our agreement....HUMANS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH CLIMATE CHANGE.  ....well, maybe after expending all our nukes.....

That was pretty much the point that I was trying to get across. I was just throwing out a basic "what if......X" side of the discussion.

Probably  fall under the Geneva Protocol discussing  the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare rather than climate change due to its more localized effect.
