Condolences for your loss. Watched my first pup get run over when I was 5 or 6 & I've never been one to let myself get too attached to pets since. I am very kind to all pets I meet, I just don't have many at home. Coyotes got the last one.

Sorry for your loss SS.

Know that feeling all too well myself, have had many of mine put down, and currently have our Great Dane coming to that point all too quickly.

Well I'm not an animal guy SS (Hell....I don't like most 2 leggers  more or less 4 leggers), but I understand how guys can get attached to their pets. A good pet can be more loyal that just about any other human can ever be. So I get it. Stay tough brother (as we all know you are).

I have my first tatted on my back.

He was 5. 195# Rottweiler "KOS" that big basterd pulled me over a coffee table at 6 mo. old! My boy!

Well meet again!

Tis indeed a sad day, we pet lovers face this decade after decade yet we never give up. I wish you peace in this time of sorrow and a good memory of all your fun times with her.

Yep. It was the same way here. When we had to put the oldest one down a couple years ago there was a void left and it was noticeable in the (slightly) younger pup. What was interesting was that the young one started displaying habits of the older one soon after.  It gets easier for everyone. We still think about her all the time and we are constantly reminded of the fun we had. It's a shame dogs don't live as long as humans. When you get a good one, it would be nice to have them with you through the end.
