98Z5V Posted October 18, 2023 Report Posted October 18, 2023 @shepp, we'll run through rigs this time, and talk about "the why" for some of this stuff. My Long Range rig is exactly how I need it, after several changes, but for a specific reason. I know @Cunuckgaucho asked me a couple years ago to go through that rig, and we just ran out of time to do it. We'll make it a point to do, this year. Everything has a function - or it goes. Something else will replace it.
dpete Posted October 21, 2023 Report Posted October 21, 2023 I've got one of these guys coming. Supposedly here by Wed. the 25th. Sightmark Wraith HD Night Vision Rifle Scope 2-16x 28mm Digital Reticle Matte Black The shoot should be a good time and place to put it through its paces.

It felt weird unloaded, then I got it all loaded and fuck this is heavy! But after putting it back on and got it semi fitted it feels really good and I got room for snacks

Sisco Posted October 22, 2023 Report Posted October 22, 2023 Nice. I am just bringing my old gear I really haven’t had a chance to use much.

Rsquared Posted October 24, 2023 Report Posted October 24, 2023 Well, as you can tell. I'm more of a salty kinda guy rather than sweet. insert jokes here ya savages.
MtnMike Posted October 26, 2023 Report Posted October 26, 2023 Damn 10/22 got me looking at another 10/22 ... next thing I know, I'd confirmed an order from Bud's. Now I have to decide on rings and a scope. https://ruger.com/products/1022Sporter/specSheets/31167.html
MtnMike Posted October 26, 2023 Report Posted October 26, 2023 Curious if any of you guys have experience with DNZ rings/mounts? Considering the integral one-piece Reaper rings for the 10/22 I just ordered.

MtnMike Posted October 27, 2023 Report Posted October 27, 2023 (edited) @98Z5VToo lazy to lap rings on a .22 in my old age. Also, this will allow me to discard the Weaver rail adapter that comes with this particular model 10/22. Fewer connection points, fewer possible points of failure. Well learned lesson from rock climbing in my younger days. KISS. Wish that the Nikon Prostaff rimfire scopes were still being made. Put one of those on a high end Marlin 60 I gave my wife about 20 years ago. That rifle has scored more groundhog headshots than I could count. Leaning toward the Vortex Diamondback rimfire scope 2x7-35. Less than $200. Cannot justify the cost of a US made Leupold rimfire scope for a rifle that will primarily be tasked with rodent and woodpecker control. Edited October 27, 2023 by MtnMike
MtnMike Posted October 27, 2023 Report Posted October 27, 2023 WTF. I guess I can justify the cost of US made Leupold for a .22. That's a lot of eye relief in an 11 oz. scope. And, I know from prior purchases that the glass in the VX-Freedom series is excellent for the $.
shepp Posted October 29, 2023 Report Posted October 29, 2023 Ordered some pistol mags from Joe bob outfitters on Friday night, I was really surprised this morning that I had USPS delivery confirmation for Tuesday, they musta packaged and got them out the door Saturday.
shepp Posted October 31, 2023 Report Posted October 31, 2023 Actually ended up being delivered yesterday (Monday) I’ll have to remember them in the future
Rsquared Posted October 31, 2023 Report Posted October 31, 2023 Some last minute Grendel ammo for the desert meet-up. I mean, you can never have too much.

I don't remember any grendel ammo on the list tom had about your ammo stash. I am bringing plenty of the Wolf grendel ammo. My guns seem to shoot that OK and I bought several cases before Bi-dumb stopped Russian imports.
Rsquared Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 Yep. I already had 400 rounds shipped out to my sons place in Nevada. This was just a bonus case of another 200 rounds just because. But I appreciate the thought brother.
