Been expecting this to happen for the last 5 years or so. My Iver Johnson Thrasher (Officer sized 1911) sheared an operating rod at the base. This has been reported for a long time to be a problem with Shooters Arms Manufacturing 1911’s produced in the Philippines. Fortunately a couple of other brands operating rods will fit interchangeably. Crazy, but this is without a doubt the most accurate 45 1911 I own at 10 yards, short barrel and all.

Had some FTF issues early on but a recoil spring swap remedied this. I have ran about 250 rounds through it since switching the spring out and I’m more confident with reliability. Decided to slowly start personalizing it by switching to a flat main spring housing and having a long, Wilson Combat trigger installed. My buddy gave me the removable, checkered front strap to try out as well.

I bought this one new in 2009? SA Loaded model, trigger was for poop. Got that figured out, I shoot it ok, don't care for it much.

Now this RIA? i love this guy! Out of the box dream! And, I can actually do damage to an eight inch bull at 15 yards. And it's not a fluke! I suck with semi-auto pistols, just sayin'. I'll take a decent revolver any day...

The RIA is four years old, I've had it over three years, the original owner either didn't like it, or shot it once and put it up for whatever reason because there was almost no wear in of contact surfaces. As it is i've only put about 150 rounds through it, and it's the first 1911 I have truly liked shooting. i like it enough and am consistent enough that it goes traveling with us out of state.

Somebody stop me.

Now, do you actually think that anybody in this crowd is even gonna try?

We might enable, encourage, endorse, whip up, stir up, recommend, promote, advance, pressure, goad, advocate or influence. But we'll NEVER try to stop a brother from acquiring.

This whole post needs to be a bumper sticker.
