Couldn't resist. Sportsman Outdoors Superstore had M&Ps on sale for $350, plus a $75 rebate from S&W  for $275... shipped! Got a .45ACP Shield.

Damn I thought the 299 ad my buddy sent me was good

Still waiting for LaRue to have a sale on MBTs so I can order one for my LR-308 and one for my Dissy project (that I'm not buying parts for...).

In the meantime, ordered up an AR-Stoner "Enhanced Trigger Group" from Midway USA to try out. For $30, what the hell? Lots of good reviews, some mediocre reviews, and a handful of bad reviews on Midway's site. Not expecting it to be much better than mil-spec, maybe I'll be surprised.

At the moment I have an 18" .338 Federal lightweight barrel on order form X-Caliber with a Seekins adjustable gas block on the way.  I plan to marry this barrel up with a Blitzkreig Tactical 80% lower that is sitting in the mill right now and a Fulton Armory LPK and a LaRue Tactical MBT that arrived last week.  Since it will be 10 to 12 weeks for delivery of the barrel I am considering a Luth AR MBA-1 buttstock with a standard 308 A2 buffer tube/spring/buffer and probably a D. Wilson BCG.  For the upper I am not sure.  I have a Spikes upper that I used on my initial .308 build that I replaced, it is nice but I may opt to go for a new upper.  Now, the real question is, what should I put on the end of the barrel?  This will be a hunting rig for larger, tougher game.  Optics, I am likewise unsure.  I have found great success with both my Vortex and my multiple UTG scopes.  The UTG's are far cheaper but come close to the Vortex on light and all hold center on the Grendel, the Creedmore and the 308s.  All suggestions are most welcome, particularly from those who have built .338 Federal rigs.

This is an "outdated" model but does everything and more I need for $100+ less. Big differences with newer model was the number of data points stored, 2,000 versus 5,000, and the Bluetooth connectivity with idevices is there versus just android stuff on this one. There might be some new program that fixes that though. Odds are I won't get much shooting advantage with it till I get that 50BMG in the arsenal, been waiting for a certain new company to get off the ground for one of those:hornet:

Has anyone seen these before. Under .50 per round. I can't reload for that, for plinking practice. I opened the actual box and all 200 round packages are hermetically sealed, with no evidence of moisture. I plan to use these in June and before I do, I have to get a new trigger group for my LR308B. The new Nikon scope is amazing, but this trigger makes me wonder what's wrong with me. Shooting groups of 3 at various powers, 2 will be within a half inch, but then 1 will be 2 inches off. This trigger feels like it has 3 gritty stages and other rifles fire effortlessly, in one stage. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the 7 lb pull, but damn, it's almost un-natural. I haven't taken it apart to see if there are rough edges to hone, which I can certainly do. What is best plan?

That ammo seems like it may be that Hertenberger ammo out of Austria that is sold as excess ammo from their military.  Heads up; I remember reading once or twice about a year or so ago that it possibly had corrosive primers and some of it was in Austrian military supply lines back to the early 70(s).  I do NOT know for sure if that is true or not (do we ever with foreign military ammo?) but I would make sure I cleaned my gun right after a day on the range.

I did not open a package as of yet, but am told it is reloadable brass by the gun shop I purchased at. If not, back it will go. I'm not sure when the words, "Keep out of the reach of children" became the norm, but I'm sure it was later than the 70's. We weren't such idiots back then. A lot of things got sorted out naturally.

Curiosity got the better of me. Here is the end of the shell casing. I'll look inside to see if it has 1 or 2 holes that indicate Boxer VS Berdan. Some interesting history about this on the interwebs. The fact that it is brass is the most important for the wellfare of the feed ramp. The carton as you see above says non corrosive, but I will take that to mean, "Clean your weapon when through". Not a big deal as I like to do this anyway. Nothing like a well oiled machine. If Berdan, into the junk pile of brass I will not use anyway it will go.

Thanks guys. I have used this before and it does fire flawlessly. I will be using some tomorrow. Now, about that damned trigger!

Don't jump to conclusions. That is very good ammo. Just clean your gun after use ! I have shot it, no worries.
